It's 8:15 in the evening. I've been in the office since 10 this morning trying to get the revisions of the game prototype finished. I've just completed the last of it ... including this new cover for the game box.
Of course, you will probably find the back cover a bit more illuminating...
We've been working hard on getting these prototypes finished so that we can take them to the upcoming conventions, play them with you and get your feedback on our game. We'll be taking them to the Space City Convention in Houston, Gencon in Indianapolis, ComicCon in Salt Lake City as well as several others. We even have a seminar planned for Gencon where we will show you how you can write your own Sojourner Tales.
Let us know what you think!
Kick-starting the Kickstarter.
So, here you are on our fresh -- and currently rather sparse -- website for our Sojourner Tales board game. By wandering about a bit and looking at the structure, you may start to get an idea of where we're going with this game. The game has been in development for over two years and it's time to actually make it happen, to share it with you, your family and your friends. We have an awesome Kickstarter campaign all set to go filled not only with opportunities for you but a lot of fun things, too.
If You Build It... Who Will Come?
If there is anything true in the world of crowd funding, it is that 'Build it and they will come' is a pretty good formula for crashing. Of course I believe that my awesome project is so cool that the moment I push the button to make it go live, the entire world is going to know about it, flock to my project page with rapturous adoration and back it with fervor.
That lovely fantasy is the Kickstarter equivalent of clapping for the fairy.
Fond as I am of fairies (and I have been known to clap for them on occasion), I'm pretty sure that what crowd funding is all about is partnering up with YOU in a very short time. And how can you possibly help me if you are only prepared to back this awesome game on the thirty-first day of a thirty-day funding?
You are the Key to Sojourner Success
That's why I'm asking you to do a little 'mission prep' right along with me. Here's what you can do:
- KICK IT WITH KICKSTARTER: If you do not already have a Kickstarter account, go to Kickstarter.com and sign up. It is free of charge and only takes a few minutes. Having your account ready to go will be a huge benefit to the project and to you -- especially since we will be giving an advanced heads up to people registered on this website to special discounted pledge levels before they go public. These discounted pledge levels are limited in number, so knowing about them in advance will be a huge advantage to you.
- REGISTER HERE: This website is the best source for important updates and announcements. There are areas of this website which are ONLY accessible to those who are registered members. (Links and menu tabs for them do not even appear until you've logged in.) Registration is free. I am the only one who will contact you. I keep all my mailing lists secure.
- YOUR FEEDBACK: Most importantly, as we reveal more about the game here on this website, we need your feedback on every aspect of the game. YOU will help us right here to shape the game, its artwork, its rules and presentation. YOU will play a part in its final incarnation.
Together, we're on a mission to make this game happen and this campaign to succeed ... and that means all of us have to work together to make this game succeed. Together, we're going to make this dream a reality -- and have a blast along the way!
Welcome to the Sojourner Tales website! Laura and I have been developing this game now for over a year and are very excited to finally bring it to you ... and ask you to join us in making it a reality.
Over the next few weeks this website will be expanding greatly, not only in previewing for you aspects of the game before we launch the Kickstarter Campaign (and thereby giving you an early look at the game before anyone else) but we will also be showing you how you can write your OWN games for Sojourner Tales ... and hopefully even sell them yourself on this website.
So check back with us often as -- with your help -- we bring into reality the game we always wanted to play.
